Syracuse University offers a variety of masters programs in
the field of communications. These university programs at
the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications are
comprehensive and intense. They last four straight semesters
over the course of one year. These programs impart in depth
knowledge and information and fulfill the needs of a person
looking to get a Masters degree in advertising, journalism,
new media, broadcast, or public relations.

Because Syracuse University is a prestigious and highly
regarded school, the graduates from its programs have an
edge over their competitors and stand a good chance to be
hired when they are finished. In fact, the job placement
rate at Syracuse University is rather high. Syracuse
University has built its reputation by hiring experts in the
field who have a good combination of academic and practical
experience. What's best is that the university acknowledges
merit with or without academic degrees. Sometimes a
professor may not be highly qualified but he will have vast
experience in the field. This is especially true of the
journalism and broadcast programs. Apart from this, all of
the programs give practical hands-on training. The students
gain practical experience even as they learn academically
and write papers.

The duration of the program suits most students. They find
the one-year program at Syracuse University perfect for
their needs and certainly better than a two-year program. It
helps the students save a year and manage their finances
more efficiently. And, they do not have to compromise on
quality. The students are required to accomplish 36 credits
as is the case for any Masters degree, but it is done in the
course of one year. The university offers semesters in
summer, fall, spring and summer.

On the flip side, in spite of the outstanding features of
the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University, it is
extremely costly and beyond the reach of many students. Like
any other private university, Syracuse can be rather pricey.
While the housing costs are reasonable, tuition runs rather
high, and there aren't many scholarships. Tuition
scholarships are not given for any of the masters programs
at Newhouse. So, even if you manage to obtain a scholarship,
it will not pay for everything. Nevertheless, need based
grants are given to help students in need with their last
semester every summer.

Getting a Masters degree from a reputable university is a
good goal. However, the time involved can seem daunting.
With a degree from the Newhouse School at Syracuse
University, however, one will find that it is possible
avoid the time constraint and finish in a year. And that
means one can start earning money earlier.
